One of our main goals is to enhance our understanding about this discipline that we love so much. We will dive into different topics the field of linguistics and decolonize a largely straight, white, male, colonial study of languages through a modern, intersectional lens. By ‘decolonizing’, we mean that we want to do our best to highlight groups of people, languages, and topics that are commonly overlooked in discussions about linguistics. In doing so, we want to join the community of linguistic activists that are spreading awareness of misinformation and misconceptions about language and also inspire others to be linguistically-aware and considerate.
